Big Chinook from the Salmon River

Big Chinook from the Salmon River

Happy Memorial Day! This is the Chinook Salmon Fishing Report from the Salmon River near Riggins Idaho.

High muddy water temporarily suspended fishing May 15th through May 21st but improved river conditions lifted the suspension and we resumed operations on May 24th.

Last week a total of 23 fisher people fished for Chinook Salmon with Exodus Wilderness Adventures guides and they hooked into 49 fish and landed 26. The biggest fish caught went to Rachel Vanderpool who landed a monster 36” Chinook on May 28thwith drift boat fishing guide Brad Sawyer and most fish caught went to Bill Wise who caught his limit of 3 adult Chinook with drift boat fishing guide Norm Klobetanz.

The river is currently in the mid 20, 000 CFS range and water temperature is fluctuating between 49-51 degrees. The river forecast, for the flow, shows the river on a mild upward rise.

As of May 29th a total of 238,729 Chinook have crossed Bonneville Dam and a total of 78,531 have crossed Lower Granite. We continue to see 1000+ fish cross each dam each day.

Exodus Wilderness Adventures offers guided Chinook Salmon Fishing by drift boat and jet boat at the rate of $185.00/person for a 6 hour fishing trip. Our morning trip meets at 5:00 am and the afternoon trip meets at 1:00 pm; trips include experienced guide, snacks, beverages and all fishing equipment.

We look forward to fishing with you soon.
