WOW! Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River near Riggins, Idaho, turned on and has been incredible the past week with lots of double digit days! We had such great fishing that we are jumping right into the Exodus creel report for the week of October 23 to October 30: 91 people fished, hooking into 210 steelhead and landing 141.
- Congratulations to Ted Molis from Boise Idaho, who caught a beautiful 35” native steelhead on October 27 with drift boat fishing guide Matt Parker.
- Congratulations to the Hobson boys; Randy, Ted Sr., Ted Jr. and Steve who hooked into 25 steelhead and landed 19 on October 26 & 27 on their 2-day Main Salmon overnight trip while fishing with jet boat fishing guide Scott Warden.
- Congratulations to the Weyerhaeuser group; Sky, Christopher, Charles, Jay, Chris, Chad & Robert who hooked into 13 steelhead and landed 11 on October 27 while fishing with jet boat fishing guide Eric Pardue.
- Congratulations to Rachel Vanderpool for out fishing Roger Burdick for 3 days. Together these two hooked into 18 fish and landed 13 while fishing with drift boat fishing guide Brad Sawyer.

Cooler fall nights and beautiful fall days have the current water level at 5310 CFS and water temperature at 44 degrees. The river is clear with amazing visibility and the weather forecast for the week shows a chance of rain this weekend with cooler day and night temperatures throughout the week.
The 2011-2012 steelhead season opened on August 1st for catch and release only and on September 1st for the harvest season. The harvest season is set to close March 31st on the Main Salmon (from Lake Creek ridge to Long Tom Creek near the Middle Fork of the Salmon River) and April 30thfor all other sections of the Salmon River. Within this time frame, we have found that your prime fall Steelhead fishing is from mid October through early December; your prime winter Steelhead fishing is from late January-early February to early March.
The Idaho Department of Fish and Game has set 2011-2012 limits at 3 hatchery fish per day or 9 total in possession.
