Current water level on the Salmon River is 5090 CFS. The water is clear and beautiful running at 45 degrees. The weather forecast for Riggins this week is mostly sunny, clear days with highs in the mid 60’s and clear, cool nights with lows in the mid 40’s.
As predicted once the barometric pressure leveled off the bite came back and fishing last week was great! Loads of bright BIG healthy fish were caught and native fish continue to out number the hatchery fish in regards to our catch rates. A total of 98 people fished for these game fish, hooking into 191 and landing 143.
This week’s BIG FISH shout-out goes to Tom Stevens from Post Falls who landed a monster 40” 20 pound native steelhead on October 28th while fishing with jet boat fishing guide Tony Bradbury. Rumor has it the fish was so big that Tom needed assistance landing the beast! Tom was fishing with Milton Hengel’s group and they also take this week’s MOST FISH shout-out landing 13 steelhead. Way to go Milton, Matthew, Cortland, Nick, Bill and Tom; see you next week!
